A Leather Workshop in Jüterbog, Brandenburg
Built simple. Built to last.

My name is Mikhail.
I first worked with leather many years ago — small handmade things, more of a pastime than a craft. The interest stayed, but what changed over time was the understanding: why some things last and others fall apart within a year.
When I went looking for a wallet for myself, I ran into the same problem again. Most of what was available was either made to be replaced, or came from brands where part of what you pay for is the name. Neither worked for me. At some point it was simpler to make what I needed myself.
That is how Tannmark started.
Today I make pieces the way I think they should be made: nothing unnecessary, built to last.

Leather
The material determines how a piece ages.
I use Buttero — a vegetable-tanned leather from Conceria Walpier in Tuscany. It does not hide signs of use. Instead, it develops a natural patina over time, gradually making each piece unique to the person who carries it.
Leather made not for the moment of purchase, but for years of use.

Hardware
There are no secondary details in a well-made piece.
I use YKK Excella hardware from Japan — precise, smooth, and built for long and consistent use. These are the details that determine whether something stays comfortable years down the line.
